01/16/2005 Archived Entry: "Unemployed Astronauts have a future at BMC Riverbridge Theater"
Well the BMC theater in the Riverbridge center is GreenAcres has decided that hiring morons is the best they can do.
I went to see A Very Long Engagement. Well it is nice to know that all those who won't become astronauts aren't stuck being the fry guy at McDonald's. Some become the projectionist at BMC Riverbridge Theaters. As the previews start rolling the image is 2 feet below the bottom of the screen and the sound is like everyone is talking through a glass of water. So I get up and ask the employees if they can fix the problem. I get a positive acknowledgment and go back to the theater. The movie starts and nothing has changed. I go back and ask again for them to fix it that nothing has changed. Eventually the usher comes up and asks me if it is now satisfactory. I have him look at the screen and ask why they are lighting up the exit sign above the door. I don't think he gets it, because the only thing that changes is that the movie gets lower on the screen and now the subtitles are below the screen. I see this employee is a bright one. Meanwhile the sound still seems like it being done 20,000 leagues under the sea. I got through the movie which was good but could have been better if I could have heard it clearly and seen it without half the image being on the floor. As I was leaving I saw an employee just sitting there chating on his cell phone. As I was leaving I told him, "I think you should raise your hiring standards for the projectionists." He looked at me quizzically because he is also not bright enough to realize I am not happy. I leave he goes back to his cell-phone call. BMC theaters has gone on the no commerce list. My money will go elsewhere.
