I threw together two quick TIP articles. One on speeding up boot time in FreeBSD:

I also want to make a small note that these should work on the 4.x branch. I have been hanging out in #freebsd on the freenode. The rumor is beginning to circulate that 5.x branch will go to a STABLE release soon. After that happens I will upgrade the laptop to 5.x STABLE. I have been told that doing make world from 4.x to 5.x is not supported. You will have to make backups of the directories and files you want to save. Do a fresh install of the 5.x STABLE branch and copy over the directories and files. Be warned that you should see the default copy of the files you are trying to copy because there will be differences and you copy of the file may need to be modified.
On a side note. I haven't posted as much as I would like to because of work, not only have I been busy, but there is a lot stuff going on in underpinnings of the work place. I am going to have to post everything once the time is right, simply because of how cathartic it will be.
